it’s time to pay the IPVA. Calendar starts today. Paying in a single installment gives a 3% discount

This week, the single quota or the first installment of the Motor Vehicle Ownership Tax (IPVA) 2023 begins to expire for drivers in the State of Rio. Today, the 23rd, the expiration date is for vehicles with the end of the license plate 0. Tomorrow, it’s the turn for the end 1, and so on, until the 3rd of February (for plates ending in 9). Those who opt for cash settlement will have a 3% discount on the total amount of tax to be paid. Another option is the payment in three installments, in this case without the right to deduction. Cars manufactured more than 15 years ago are exempt.

In the case of the State of Rio, IPVA is calculated at different rates, according to the fuel used. For flex-fuel cars, the percentage corresponds to 4% of the venal value (market price) of the vehicle. Motorcycle owners pay the equivalent of 2%. Owners of vehicles powered by Vehicular Natural Gas (CNG) are charged 1.5%. The rate for cars powered exclusively by electricity is 0.5%. Owners of diesel fueled cars pay 4%, except SUVs (3%).

It is worth mentioning that the vehicle market prices are calculated by the Economic Research Institute Foundation (Fipe), based on the values ​​calculated in September/October of each year. The table with the venal values ​​that served as a reference for the collection of IPVA 2023 was published by the state Treasury Department in December last year, in the Official Gazette.

The owner of a Fiat Uno Drive 1.0, flex, year 2017, which was valued at BRL 52,014, for example, will pay a rate of 4%. Therefore, the tax payable amount will be R$ 2,080.56. The driver who has a Chevrolet Onix Joy 1.0 year 2020, flex, whose value according to the Fipe Table was R$ 56,840, will disburse R$ 2,273.60. The IPVA payment can be made at any bank branch, including through internet banking.

DPVAT insurance

For the third consecutive year, the Personal Injury Insurance Caused by Land Motor Vehicles (DPVAT) will not be charged to drivers across the country. The charge had already been suspended by the Superintendence of Private Insurance (Susep) in 2020 and 2021, due to excess cash resources.

This mandatory insurance guarantees compensation to victims of traffic accidents and relatives in cases of disability or death. It also covers medical and hospital expenses. In the case of death, the amount is equivalent to R$ 13,500, as well as in situations of permanent disability. Medical-hospital expenses are covered up to a maximum limit of R$ 2,700. Caixa Econômica Federal is responsible for the payment.

How to issue the bank guide

The IPVA must be paid through the Debt Settlement Guide (GRD). To issue it, access the Bradesco bank website (www.bradesco.com.br) and, in the menu on the left, select “Products and services”. Then click on “Services”.

A new screen will open. In it, the driver must choose the option “Payments”. When scrolling this screen, within the “Taxation” option, the interested party must select “DETRAN RJ, GRD, DUDA, GRT and GRM”. Finally, just scroll the screen again and click on “Generate billet”.

On the new screen displayed, the driver must select GRD (IPVA), in the upper left corner. Afterwards, it is necessary to inform the Renavam number of the vehicle, the CPF or CNPJ and type the text of the image on the side. After clicking on “Continue”, just select the payment in a single installment or the first installment.

Another option is to access the page of the State Treasury Department (and click on “IPVA”. Then, when selecting “IPVA – GRD / Guide – Collection of debt”, the person is forwarded to the Bradesco page for issuing the guide.

In addition to the IPVA, the driver must pay the annual licensing fee of the Detran.RJ, in the amount of R$ 183.24, also issued on the Bradesco website.
