IR: banks report new refund scam via Pix – 06/01/2023 – Panel SA

Two bankers claim that the Income Tax refunds have barely begun to be paid and a new scam is already circulating in the square.
According to reports, criminals send a WhatsApp message reporting that they accidentally sent a Pix to the victim. They ask you to return the amount via bank transfer.
The amount coincides with the deposit of the IR refund made by the Revenue.
The financial institutions heard by the Panel SA under anonymity said they suspected data leakage from the Federal Revenue database.
The column also heard a report from a potential target who did not fall for the scam.
According to him, the informed amount had a difference of one cent for less and the amount, supposedly transferred, was not from Banco do Brasil, used for the payment of refunds.
