IPCA rises 0.84% in February and accumulates 5.60% in 12 months

The major weight for the result was the Education group, which rose by more than 6% in the month. The Extended National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), an indicator considered the country’s official inflation, rose 0.84% in February, according to data released this Friday (10) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). The result follows an increase of 0.53% in January. As a result, the country now has an accumulated inflation of 5.60% in the 12-month window. The first two months of 2023 accumulate a 1.37% increase in prices. This month, eight of the nine price groups recorded highs. The exception was clothing (-0.24%), which also fell in January (-0.27%). At the other end, the major weight for the February IPCA result was the Education group, which rose by more than 6% in the month.
