INSS starts paying 2nd installment of the 13th; see calendar – 06/26/2023 – Market

The INSS (National Social Security Institute) starts paying the second installment of the 13th to retirees, pensioners and aid recipients this Monday (26). As in previous years, the Christmas bonus was brought forward to May and June.

The measure will benefit around 30 million Brazilians, who will receive an amount of R$ 62.6 billion. This is the fourth year in a row that the benefit is anticipated for the first semester. The release of amounts follows the Social Security payment schedule in 2023.

Second installment has income tax discount

The second installment of the 13th will have an Income Tax discount for those who enter the range that obliges them to pay the IR. This year, the Lula government changed the tax table, updated on May 1, and fewer insured people pay income tax.

Now, the IR is charged only for those who earn from two minimum wages, which is R$ 2,640 in 2023. Those aged 65 and over also pay less tax from the month in which they have their birthday.

Those who receive retirement, pension and aid are entitled to the 13th. Policyholders who earn BPC (Continued Provision Benefit) and lifetime monthly income are excluded from the payment.

The money falls into the account of the insured always from the end of the month of the accrual that is being paid. In June, payment starts on the 26th for those who have a benefit number ending in 1, without considering the digit. The first to receive are beneficiaries who earn a minimum wage. The floor rose to R$1,320 on May 1st.

Then, in the first days of the following month, the release of amounts begins for those who earn above the minimum up to the INSS ceiling, of R$ 7,507.49 in 2023. Payment dates for this public range from July 3 to 7.

HOW IS THE INSS 13th PAYMENT PAYMENT?

The amounts paid depend on when the insured person retired. For those who were already retired in January of this year, the value of the first installment corresponds to exactly half of the benefit. The second installment is paid with an Income Tax discount for those who are obliged to pay the IR.

This year, the IR table was updated by the government, with an increase in the exemption range and a standard discount of R$ 528 on income, which will make taxpayers pay less tax. In addition, 13.7 million should be exempt from IR with the increase in the initial range.

For those who were not yet retired in January 2023, the amounts released from the 13th are proportional, depending on the number of months in which the insured person began to receive retirement, pension or assistance from the INSS. The values, however, are only available for consultation close to the payment date. Updated statements are being released little by little. It is common for those who receive the minimum wage to see the confirmation of the amounts before other insured persons.

However, from the day the INSS makes the first payment, the updated statement is released to all insured persons. In May, the forecast is the consultation released to all from the 25th and, in June, consultation released to all from the 26th.
