INSS makes joint effort to release BPC; see how to participate – 02/06/2023 – Market

The INSS (National Social Security Institute) will start, this Saturday, June 3, a task force to release the BPC (Continued Provision Benefit), a benefit worth a minimum wage (R$ 1,3020) paid to sick leave insured income over 65 years of age or people with disabilities.

The goal of the task force is to reduce the queue waiting for the concession, which currently has 514.7 thousand policyholders waiting. In all, the INSS queue has 1,249 of which 41% are waiting for the BPC.

The initial task force is limited to the municipalities of Caruaru (PE), Manaus (AM), Imperatriz (MA) and Montes Claros (MG). According to the institute, the locations where there was a larger stock of BPC orders were selected. The action will last for one month, always on weekends, until July 2nd.

To participate in the mutirão, citizens need to contact the INSS, through the Telephone Center 135, and make an appointment for the scheduled dates in their city. Assistance to insured persons will be carried out by social workers and expert doctors, who will assess the social condition of future beneficiaries and the condition of their disability, if applicable.

• Caruaru (PE) – 3rd and 4th of June
• Manaus (AM) – June 17th and 18th
• Imperatriz (MA) – June 24th and 25th
• Montes Claros (MG) – July 1st and 2nd

The focus of actions will be on social assessments by social workers, informs the institute. According to Social Security, there will be no payment of bonuses for the category or for the experts who participate.

“In addition to the social assessments, INSS employees and medical experts will be present to provide information, carry out medical expertise, as well as solve access difficulties and the completion of some benefits”, says the agency.

The mutirões will serve as a model to be applied in other regions of the country. The intention is to carry out the action in other cities, including capitals such as São Paulo (SP) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

Adriane Bramante, president of the IBDP (Brazilian Institute of Social Security Law), evaluates the initiative positively. “The BPC is a benefit of an assistential nature. They are people in a situation of poverty, and having such an expressive number of people waiting for analysis compromises the guarantee of subsistence of these people”, he says.

“I think this attitude of doing a joint effort and concluding as quickly as possible these processes of people who requested the assistance benefit is very favorable”, says Adriane.

WHO HAS THE RIGHT TO BPC

Workers enrolled in CadÚnico (Cadastro Único) who are part of low-income families. For this, the per capita income (per person) must be up to a quarter of the minimum wage, which is R$ 330 this year. It is not necessary to have contributed to Social Security, that is, there is no minimum time requirement.

The benefit is paid to:

• Elderly person aged 65 and over
• Disabled person, of any age, as long as they undergo expertise

Disability can be physical, mental, intellectual or sensory, making everyday life difficult for citizens.

HOW TO ORDER THE BPC

Through the Meu INSS app or website or by phone, at Central 135, from Monday to Saturday, from 7 am to 10 pm. It is necessary to apply for the “Assistance Benefit for the Elderly” or the “Assistance Benefit for Persons with Disabilities”.

The citizen needs to send the documents for analysis or, when scheduling an appointment at a Social Security agency, take all the documentation that proves the right. It is necessary to be registered in CadÚnico.

If the BPC is rejected, the insured person can appeal to the INSS service channels within 30 days after learning of the decision.

The request is denied when:

1. The income per person in the family does not meet the requirements for granting the benefit, making it unnecessary to assess the disability
2. Disability is not proven after carrying out the medical and social assessments, and income assessment is unnecessary
