INSS: Lula anticipates 13th for retirees – 05/04/2023 – Market

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed this Thursday (4th) a decree to anticipate the payment of the end-of-year allowance, popularly known as the 13th, for Social Security beneficiaries. The measure will affect the benefit received by 30 million Brazilians.

Payment to these beneficiaries will be made in two installments, in May and June of this year, according to the usual INSS (National Social Security Institute) payment schedule.

The decree was signed by the representative a few hours before his departure for London, where he will participate in the ceremony of the heart of Charles III. The representative himself announced the measure on his social networks.

“Good news for the 30 million INSS insured persons. We anticipate the payment of the annual bonus”, wrote the president.

The anticipation of the 13th for beneficiaries had already been done previously, in particular in the last three years, during the management of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The total expenditure of the federal government with this anticipation will be R$ 62.6 billion. This allowance, popularly known as the 13th, is given to insured persons who have received this year’s pensions, death pension, temporary disability allowance, accident allowance or prison allowance.

This allowance is normally paid in the second semester of each year, in the months of August and November. The government argues that the anticipation of these values ​​reaches beneficiaries from all Brazilian states and still hopes that it represents an increase in resources circulating in local markets.

Government data indicate that São Paulo is the state that will receive the largest transfer for the payment of the allowance, considering these two months, with R$ 17.7 billion. Next appears Minas Gerais, with R$ 6.9 billion in transfers, and then Rio de Janeiro, with R$ 6 billion.
