Influencer of Maré, Raphael Vicente celebrates highlighting his life in a British newspaper: ‘Too grateful’

Raphael is 22 years old, he was even approved to study Dance at UFRJ, but he dropped out of college. He makes humorous videos where he appears with his family in his community. On Instagram alone, he has 907,000 followers. Already on TikTok there are more than 3 million.
“Me, my family and Maré are in one of the biggest British newspapers in the world. Big thanks to everyone who follows and shares our work”, he wrote, when sharing the news on the networks.
The report features a profile of the influencer, with interviews with his sister Maria Eduarda and UFRJ professor Fernanda Carrera.
“I’m a black, poor, gay boy who’s lived his whole life in Maré. We don’t have the same opportunities as those who don’t live in the favela. Our fight always demands twice as much determination and work,” Raphael told the newspaper.
