Financial market operators raised for the seventh consecutive week the projection for the inflation of 2023, according to the most recent Bulletin Focus, from the Central Bank, released this Monday (30) (see in full). The expectation is that the IPCA (Extended Consumer Price Index) will reach 5.74% in the year, 0.26 points above last week’s projection. It was the biggest advance in expectations since the beginning of the year.

In the monthly projection, the expectation is that the month of January will end with IPCA of 0.55%, after a slight drop in projections, from 0.53% to 0.50%, between the first days of 2023 until last week . Analysts heard by the Central Bank also raised the projection for inflation in 2024, from 3.84% to 3.90%.

On the other hand, the expectation of a drop in the Selic rate to 12.50% by the end of the year, reaching 9.5% in 2024. The basic interest rate is currently at 13.75%.
