The real billing of the Brazilian industry had a drop of 1.3% in April according to data from the National Confederation of Industry (CNI) released this Wednesday (31). The result shows a loss of dynamism in industrial activity and occurs after six months without registering negative variation (see in full).

Larissa Nocko, an economist at CNI, claims that revenues had been on a downward trajectory since 2022, when it advanced in March and retreated in April. The fall, however, was not enough to reverse the 1.4% rise in March, so that the indicator remains above that observed in February.

“The survey points to the continuation of the deceleration trajectory in the manufacturing industry, which has occurred since 2022. Indicators such as revenue, hours worked, employment and the use of installed capacity, which already showed a loss of momentum, showed a drop or stability in April,” he said.

According to the CNI, hours worked in production fell by 1.5% compared to March, while the real wage bill increased by 2.9% compared to the previous month. Compared to April 2022, growth reached 4.7%.
