The price tends to catch some drivers by surprise
The survey “The Brazilian Relationship with the Automobile”, produced by Serasa in partnership with the Opinion Box Institute, showed that 24% of residents in the North region have not yet planned or do not know how they will pay the Motor Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) 2024.
According to the study, 35% of people say that they included the installments in the monthly budget to be paid during the year. 31% said they had saved during the previous year to pay in cash and 7% will use their 13th salary to pay the tax.
According to Serasa coordinator, Carolina Ribeiro, even though it is an annual expense, the amount usually takes some drivers by surprise.
“Thus, financial planning is essential to measure expenses in advance and estimate costs between one year and the next”,

Use of automobiles
Due to the difficulty of urban mobility, especially when it comes to public transport, the car is a necessity for many people. According to Serasa research, in the North region, 7 out of 10 people use their cars daily.
The main reason is to get to work or study (32%). Next comes transportation for children and other family members (16%), weekend trips (13%) and shopping and day-to-day tasks (13%).
In the North, 40% of those interviewed said they had increased their car use in the last 12 months. Among the reasons for the increase in use is greater efficiency in commuting (45%), they need a car for their children (32%), they started using the car as a work tool (30%), they returned to working in person ( 25%) and lack of safety on public transport (23%).
