As farmers in the region had no one to sell to, Simone convinced everyone to donate surplus vegetables, a practice that is now subsidized by private companies that participate in the project. The project has already donated more than 380 tons of food and helped 300,000 families in 17 municipalities in São Paulo. Harvest care In Paranoá (DF), the couple formed by Clevane and Joe Valle created a series of simple care, but that make the difference in the harvest and post-harvest. Now, they prevent many employees from touching the lettuces and the packaging started to be done inside the field, so as not to damage the foliage during transport. They also never leave the vegetables in the sun. For vegetables discarded because they are not up to standard, they bet on processing to be able to sell these foods. With these measures, the farm was able to reduce waste by half. At Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (Ceagesp), there is a project to standardize fruit and vegetable boxes.
