In Manaus, more than 70 health units provide vaccine against Covid-19

Most stations operate during business hours, but some extend public service until 8 pm

Manaus (AM) – From Monday to Friday (13th to 17th), Manaus City Hall will be offering the vaccine against Covid-19 in more than 75 basic health units. The Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa) advises users to seek the nearest point carrying an identity document or birth certificate, CPF or National Health Card (CNS) and the vaccine card. Children and teenagers need to be taken by a responsible adult.

Acting municipal undersecretary for Health Management, nurse Aldeniza Araújo, informs that the schedules for the Municipal Vaccination Campaign against Covid-19, during the week, vary according to the operation of the unit. Most stations operate during business hours, but some extend service to the public until 8 pm, as a strategy to facilitate access for people who work during the day.

“The secretariat continues to strengthen the immunization campaign against the disease and encourage people to keep their vaccination schedule up to date, whether with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th dose, because vaccines are primarily responsible for reducing deaths and hospitalizations by Covid-19. Take the children you are responsible for, invite your family, friends and neighbors, so that everyone around you can stay healthy and safe”, he says.

Children

Aldeniza Araújo explains that 35 vaccination points are a reference for children, all of which serve children aged 5 to 11 years, both to start or complete the initial two-dose scheme and to apply the booster dose in this group.

“All these units are supplied with pediatric Pfizer, and when the children are immunized, they will also be able to update the other vaccines in the basic calendar”, he informs.

The nurse adds that the offer of Pfizer Baby and CoronaVac is centered on 14 basic units, in order to avoid wasting doses, since the demand for these immunizers remains low.

Babies from 6 months to 4 years old are being vaccinated with Pfizer Baby, with an initial three-dose schedule. Children aged 3 and 4 can also receive CoronaVac, which has an initial two-dose schedule. However, with reduced stock in the capital, this immunizer is only available for the second dose, and babies who are starting the vaccination schedule will receive Pfizer Baby. The booster dose for this age group is also done with Pfizer Baby, regardless of the immunizer used in the initial vaccination schedule.
