President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed this Tuesday (14) the provisional measure (MP) that resumes Minha Casa, Minha Vida. The PT member participated in the delivery of 684 homes in Santo Amaro, Bahia. There were also simultaneous deliveries by the housing program in Lauro de Freitas (BA), João Pessoa (PB), Contagem (MG) and Aparecida de Goiânia (GO).

In the Bolsonaro government, Minha Casa, Minha Vida was replaced by Casa Verde e Amarela, with other criteria. According to Planalto, one of the main novelties of the new program is the return of Level 1, aimed at families with gross income of up to R$ 2,640 (previously, the required income was R$ 1,800).

The government’s intention is to allocate up to 50% of the financed and subsidized units to the public in Range 1. In addition, homeless families will be included in the program and the social lease should be expanded.

During the speech, Lula made a nod to the mayors of the country. “You who are mayors of small and medium-sized cities can be sure that we will not forget you in our administration. A country cannot be rich if its cities are poor,” she said.

Ministers Rui Costa (Casa Civil), Márcio França (Ports and Airports) and Wellington Dias (Social Development), Senators Jaques Wagner (PT-BA) and Otto Alencar (PSD-BA) and the governor of Bahia, Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), among others.
