In 2023, the Industrial Pole of Manaus closes the quarter with revenues of R$ 55 billion

First four months of the year indicate growth of 3.98% compared to the result obtained in the same period last year

Manaus (AM) – The Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) earned BRL 55.75 billion in the first four months of 2023, representing growth of 3.98% compared to the same period last year (BRL 53.61 billion). In dollars, revenues also increased, this time by 2.04%, when comparing the amounts registered between January and April of this year (US$ 10.93 billion) with the same period of 2022 (US$ 10.72 billion).

In the first four months of the year, PIM companies registered exports of US$ 194.70 million, which represents growth of 23.06% compared to the same period of 2022 (158.23 million).

With regard to labor indicators, the PIM employed 106,790 workers in April, including permanent, temporary and outsourced workers, a result very similar to that seen in the same month of last year (106,569 workers). Added to the first four months of 2023, the monthly average of jobs in the year stands at 109,508 workers.

Segments and products

Computer goods (revenue of R$14.85 billion and participation of 26.64%), electronics (revenue of R$10.53 billion and participation of 18.89%) and Duas Rodas (revenue of R$10.02 billion and a share of 17.97%) were the three main PIM segments in revenue representation in the first four months of the year. Of these, the Two Wheels segment was the most heated, registering a growth of 28.83% in revenue between January and April 2023 compared to the same period last year.

Among the main products manufactured by PIM, the biggest highlights in the first four months of the year were televisions with LCD and OLED screens, with 4,264,669 units produced and an increase of 42.57% compared to the same period of 2022; motorcycles, scooters and mopeds, with 535,750 units produced and an increase of 20.76%; cell phones, with 5,278,176 units produced and an increase of 3.57%; split system air conditioners, with 1,279,520 units produced, an increase of 37.21%; single-body window or wall-mounted air conditioners, with 51,651 units produced, an increase of 134.03%; television signal receivers, with 1,068,109 units produced, an increase of 112.21%; and razors, with 609,897 units produced and an increase of 21.24%.

Assessment

According to the superintendent of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, Bosco Saraiva, the Manaus Industrial Hub registered an average monthly billing of approximately R$ 14 billion until April and, if this trend continues, the expectation is that the incentivized factories in the Zone Franca de Manaus can consolidate yet another global revenue record by the end of 2023.

“We have several segments with revenue growth, especially the Electroelectronics and Two Wheels poles, which are very important for attracting investments, job creation and general productivity in the Manaus Free Trade Zone. We hope that this favorable context can continue and that the PIM indicators will be even more expressive over the coming months”,
