Ilha, Anja, Guy… See list of uncommon names of famous children, such as Seu Jorge’s youngest

In recent weeks, singer Seu Jorge and his girlfriend Karina Barbieri have gone through a bureaucratic process to get the couple’s son registered as Samba. Initially, the registry office did not accept registering the baby and the two would have called a lawyer.

The Association of Natural Persons Registrars of the State of São Paulo (Arpen/SP) even issued a note on the case.

“Given the reasons presented, which involve the preservation of African links and cultural restoration with its origins, as well as the case study that showed the existence of this name in other countries, I formed my conviction by registering the chosen name, which was drawn up” , informed the registrar Kátia Possar.

Lawyer Sérgio Vieira explains that the Public Records Law of 1973 says that the civil registry officer must not register names that expose the person to ridicule or that may cause unnecessary embarrassment.

“There is no list of names that cannot be registered, but there are cases such as profanity, which under no circumstances should be registered. is to prevent children from being unnecessarily subjected to bullying”, points out Sérgio.

The singer already had three daughters from previous relationships: Luz Bella, Flor and Maria Aimée. But just like him, who did not take a public position on the case, other celebrities have already given names to their children that are also Portuguese or English words and even that are simply different from what we usually see.

Uri

Actors Letícia Colin and Michel Melamed are the parents of little Uri, 3 years old. The interpreter of Vanessa, from the soap opera “All flowers”, explained the choice of name:

— Uri means “my light”. It’s a Hebrew name. Michel is Jewish, and we wanted to choose a name that had a legacy. For most people outside the Jewish community, it’s a different name, but in Israel it’s super common. As if it were João here, there are many Uris in Israel – she said, in an interview with EXTRA.

Son of actors Danielle Winits and Jonatas Faro, Guy means “man” in English. That was the reason for choosing the parents for the name.

“This little guy was born and I already knew he came into this world to be ‘the guy’. Mother’s intuition doesn’t fail, your name will be Guy! This year he asked me if it’s okay for him to have that name at school. I replied : ‘Son, look at that special thing, then? You are unique’. He already knew that the name meant ‘man’ in English, but that day he opened a big smile and started dancing”, wrote Danielle on her Instagram profile, in one of Guy’s last birthdays.

American couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z have three children. The oldest, 10 years old, is called Blue Ivy, the first word means “blue” in English. Five years ago, they had twins, a girl named Rumi and a boy named Sir, which means “lord”.

For Blue, it is speculated that the inspiration came from a poem by Rebecca Solnit, which talks about blue. But Jay-Z also has three albums called “Blueprint”, which were released between 2001 and 2009 and have earned him gold and platinum records on every occasion.
