III Chestnut Festival: Fepiam takes Indigenous Crafts in Autazes

Event promotes culture and tradition of the indigenous people of Amazonas
This Saturday (9), the State Foundation of Indigenous Peoples of Amazonas (Fepiam) will be present at the III Traditional Chestnut Festival, which will take place in Autazes, in Aldeia Igarapé-Açu, starting at 5pm. The event, which has already become a tradition in the municipality, will feature the participation of indigenous artisans, promoting the richness and diversity of traditional crafts.
“We are very happy to participate in the Chestnut Festival in Autazes. It is another opportunity for indigenous people to show their talent and culture through crafts”, highlights the CEO of Fepiam, Sinésio Trovão.
In addition to supporting the structure of tents for indigenous artisans, Fepiam will also contribute a variety of artisanal products, including festive accessories, cords, bracelets, earrings, decorative objects, clothing, typical foods and natural products from the Mura, Munduruku and others.
“The III Festa da Castanha is an event where visitors will have the opportunity to learn about and appreciate the culture and tradition of the indigenous peoples of Amazonas. We are looking forward to sharing our art and customs with everyone who attends the event”, highlights Fepiam’s technical director, Joabe Leonam.
The event will also feature a series of attractions, including typical foods derived from chestnuts, hedgehog throwing, presentation of the largest and smallest hedgehog, raffle and bingo for 120 cans of chestnuts, in addition to the presentation of the queen and the village’s cunhã-poranga and other cultural attractions.
