The Foodservice Brazil Institute (IFB) announces the launch of the Guide on Reducing Food Losses and Product Donation, aimed at companies across the food sector – from large rural producers to restaurant owners. The guide has 62 pages and covers strategies to combat food waste, implementation of donation programs, communication and engagement and success stories. The material can be accessed free of charge through this link.

“With the creation of the Guide, it was possible to make reality what for many will be a fundamental tool for reducing losses and donating food not suitable for commercialization, but rather for human consumption”, highlights Rogério Barreira, president of the IFB. “In a world with alarming data on the number of people living in food insecurity, we are certain that this initiative can help encourage actions that alleviate the suffering of those who have nothing to eat. It is also a technical contribution that touches on the three ESG pillars.”

To prepare the guide, IFB investigated good practices for combating food waste already adopted by partners. As a result, the content presented is capable of reaching the entire value chain, with different levels of maturity and measures that indicate paths for any type of organization.

“Understanding the seriousness of the situation and adapting your organization in a safe and agile way will bring invaluable competitive advantages that will also reflect positively on published results and balance sheets. Thus, the challenge has been launched, not only for our associates, but also for society as a whole”, adds Barreira.
