IBGE Contest: professions that should have vacancies – 07/18/2023 – Market

The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) said this Tuesday (18) that the opening of the public tender with 895 vacancies, announced by the federal government, will be “essential” to guarantee its regular work plan.

According to the research body, the opportunities should involve professionals from “various areas”, including statisticians, demographers, economists, sociologists, geographers, specialists in information technology and geoprocessing, among others.

This list of professions appears in a letter released by the IBGE on social networks. The text, according to the institute, was forwarded to the Ministries of Management and Innovation in Public Services and Planning and Budget as a form of “thank you” for authorizing the tender.

The statement is signed by the interim president of the IBGE, Cimar Azeredo. “The last competition for effective staff was held in 2015 and, since then, the IBGE has been facing a progressive reduction in its number of employees”, according to the text.

“In order for the institution to be able to expand and modernize its production of geographic information and statistics, it is fundamental to maintain the perspective of new competitions”, he adds.

The IBGE has not yet released details about vacancies, salaries and the selection schedule. The body informed that, as soon as the publication of the authorization is effected by the federal government, it will define these vacancies by area of ​​knowledge and by location.

This Tuesday, the federal government announced the opening of public tenders for federal bodies, including the institute, and the hiring of candidates approved in disputes already held. IBGE is the body that leads the list in number of open positions (895).

The package covers 3,026 vacancies. Of this total, 2,480 vacancies will come from new competitions, and 546 will be appointments from selections that have already taken place.

In another statement after Tuesday’s announcement, the institute said that, as soon as the publication of the vacancy authorization is carried out by the government, with the distribution of positions, it will define these vacancies by area of ​​knowledge and by location.

“The IBGE Public Tender Committee, already in place, had its first meeting yesterday (17th). This committee is responsible for proposing areas of knowledge, syllabus content, degree scores, among others. It is up to the IBGE Board of Directors to make the final decision on the themes”, stated the institute.

After these steps, the IBGE said it will hire the company organizing the contest, through a bidding process, to then close the final version of the notice and schedule.

As Folha showed in February, the institute has been challenged by the loss of fixed servers in recent years.

In December 2022, the IBGE had 4,009 effective employees, a number 42.5% lower than that registered in the same month of 2010 (6,971), according to data from Assibge, which represents the workers of the research body.

In recent months, the institute has faced a series of delays in finalizing the 2022 Demographic Census, whose final data only began to be released in June 2023.
