IBGE Contest 2023: government authorizes more than 8,000 vacancies – 05/17/2023 – Market

The IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) will open a simplified selection process to hire 8,141 professionals to work in the final part of the 2022 Demographic Census process.

The contract will be for a fixed period, for a period of one year, according to the publication. Vacancies are for census mapping agent, coder, research and mapping agent, quality collection supervisor, telephone survey agent and survey supervisor.

The professionals will also act in the collection of other IBGE surveys, according to the announcement. The employment contract may be extended, but it was not informed for what period. For this, however, the institute must justify the need to be with the professionals for longer than expected.

The deadline for opening the contract notice is up to six months after the publication of the ordinance. If this is not done within this period, the vacancy authorization expires. The IBGE still needs to choose the organizing company, publish the notice and disclose the selection rules.

In a note, the institute confirms that these are temporary vacancies, which can be extended, if necessary. About the professionals, the institute says that “they will act in the finalization of the work of the 2022 Census and also in the collection of other surveys of the IBGE”.

How to apply

Those interested in working at IBGE must wait for the publication of the notice. It will contain the selection rules, such as the amount to be paid for the registration fee, education required for each position, date and time of the tests, place where the tests will be carried out and the municipality or state in which the citizen will be able to work.

In the last selection of the institute opened this year, also to complement and finalize the work of the 2022 census, a research and mapping agent and a collection and quality supervisor were hired. The requirements for both posts is high school. The salary offered is R$ 1,387.50 and R$ 3,100, respectively.

To run for office, the citizen must have good hearing and communication skills, have no difficulty seeing, as it will be necessary to read and fill in the electronic census form on behalf of the census member, be able to travel around the region where he will work, including the rural zone, in addition to agility to fulfill the tasks determined within the deadlines required by the schedules.

What does a quality collection supervisor do?

Among the duties of the position are:

• Organize, plan, and execute activities established in the work organization chart
• Manage the work carried out at the collection agencies in accordance with the organization chart provided for research and surveys
• Monitor the development of research and survey data collection, seeking the quality of information
• Control the production and quality of collection and survey activities, reporting and contribution to planning
• Organize and coordinate activities, interacting with the executing teams
• Visit collection units of any nature
• Conduct and (or) schedule face-to-face or telephone interviews, according to the instructions received
• Carry out a technical evaluation of the collected questionnaires, based on the defined criteria and (or) instructions received, according to technical standards and specific methodologies
• Ensure the quality of data collected using technical knowledge and instructions received
• Evaluate the updated data received, comparing it with information from previous years (when available and applicable), ensuring the entry of data with greater reliability; participate and (or) provide training, aiming at training for the development of statistical research
• Provide technical assistance to interviewers in carrying out field activities, checking route information, positioning geographic coordinates and registering households, among others

What does a survey and mapping agent do?

Among the functions are:

• Visit homes and establishments of any nature, such as commercial, industrial, agricultural, services and public bodies, in selected locations according to the topic to be researched
• Conduct and (or) schedule face-to-face or telephone interviews, recording data in printed or electronic questionnaires
• Deliver and (or) transmit to your superior the questionnaires completed or sent through
• Provide support for carrying out and (or) updating geographic surveys that structure the execution of statistical surveys
• Collect cartographic or thematic features of the territory, according to the geographic surveys necessary to carry out statistical research
• Prepare materials for data collection and satellite images and aerial photographs for collection activities
• Transfer or transcribe the defining boundaries of rural and urban sectors for census mapping

Census results should be released on June 28

The IBGE is expected to release the population data collected in the 2022 Demographic Census on June 28, after a series of delays in the survey and an impasse over the disclosure period. The census began on August 1, 2022, and went through several challenges, which postponed the release of data, scheduled for October last year.

Among the difficulties faced in carrying out the work are delays in payments at the beginning of collection, which provoked the threat of strikes, and the spread of even fake news, which led to low adherence to the census in high-income condominiums.
