And many customers used social networks to complain about problems with reservations, flights and accommodation. In the midst of the controversy, videos of the CEO were released cursing, threatening and exposing customer data in a group of company employees on WhatsApp. He had also already published another video on his social networks in which he made fun of customer complaints. “These recent events, in fact, were the mistakes of ‘João Ricardo Mendes’ and not of an entire company that is much bigger than me”, wrote the businessman in his letter of resignation. “It’s clear that this event is a reflection of me – and the criticism I’ve received is a stark reminder that I must fundamentally change as a leader and grow. ‘ from João ‘Pessoa Legal’, because I’m hurting many people”, he says. In the letter, he says that the current general counsel Otávio Brissant will assume the position of CEO on an interim basis from 23:59 this Monday. Mendes, however, remains responsible legal and main shareholder of the company.
