In allusion to Eye Health Day, Hospital Pronto-Socorro (HPS) João Lúcio held, on Monday (10), an educational lecture on eye health. The initiative seeks to make people aware of the need to reinforce measures to prevent and reduce eye diseases.
Eye Health Day is intended to alert the population and health professionals to the importance of preventing and diagnosing eye diseases that, if left untreated, can lead to vision loss. The director of the unit, Juliana Xavier, says that the activity allows the quality of employees in the development processes.
“The purpose of the event is to allow employees and users to experience their development processes with quality, the lecture aims to collaborate in the identification of possible health-related problems, including eye problems, in health promotion and in the development of self-care processes ”, highlights the director.
The lecture took place in the unit’s auditorium and was coordinated by the specialist in ophthalmology, Dr. André Scariot, which aimed, in a didactic and popular way, to alert the public present in the health area, one of the main diseases that affect visual health and what should be done before reaching the specialist.
Subjects such as the structure of the eyes were discussed, as well as the most common diseases and alterations in the community, and how they should be addressed before specialist care. The Doctor. André highlights the size of the importance of this type of activity carried out in the unit.
“The main importance is to remind some topics of ophthalmology for the health professionals present here, so that they can share this information with their colleagues and the community. That way, more people will have basic knowledge about eye health,” he commented.
