How to make flawless iced coffee; see recipe with video – 09/20/2023 – Café na Prensa

With almost every region of the country experiencing high temperatures, alternating between regular coffee and an iced version of the drink can be a great way to stay caffeinated while beating the heat.

Iced coffee, however, requires some adjustments to be as good as hot coffee — sometimes even better.

The process for making a good iced coffee It starts with choosing the bean: give preference to lighter roasts with more fruity notes, as they are better and more refreshing in the chilled version.

Today, some coffees available in supermarkets already indicate the roasting point and the main sensory notes on the label, so just look for this information on the packaging.

When preparing, you need to rinse the coffee with boiling water and then cool it. The high temperature during filtering is responsible for extracting the main aromas and flavors of the grain.

During extraction, it is recommended to use a slightly higher coffee/water ratio than what you normally do, in order to make the drink more concentrated, as it will still be diluted when it comes into contact with the ice.

Finally, an important tip: a small amount of sugar is welcome, even if you don’t usually sweeten your coffee. This will control the acidity of the drink and bring out the fruity notes. But be careful not to overdo it. A small spoonful of coffee is enough.

If you want to make it even more refreshing, you can top it off with a piece of lemon peel.

Or, if you are a fan of lattesadd a little cold milk.

Drink immediately after mixing with ice and do not leave the coffee in the glass for too long. Otherwise, it will continue to dilute in the ice and result in a watery drink.
