Enjoy the cold and charm of the central region of Curitiba, savoring a delicious soup inspired by the history of immigration in the city. This is one of the experiences that the 11th Winter Festival of the Historic Center (FICH) offers its visitors this year from this Friday (7th) until the 16th of July.
With an extensive program that includes guided walks through the central region and cultural presentations, the festival has gastronomy as one of its main attractions. In this edition, ten establishments in the Historic Center region offer soup options inspired by the cultural roots of the capital of Paraná, at a fixed price of R$ 23.90.
Soups for all tastes
At the restaurant A Ostra Bêbada, the soup chosen for the festival is a sea stew. Bar do Alemão, one of the most traditional bars in Largo da Ordem, will offer potato and bacon soup. For those who like to try something different, the Jeito Mineiro Restaurant will offer cassava soup with pine nuts and stone soup, a typical Portuguese recipe that uses ingredients such as beans, meat, potatoes and pasta.
At the Bar Brasileirinho, the highlight will be the Kenga broth, a soup prepared with chicken, mandioquinha, carrots and other ingredients. Fans of Arab cuisine, on the other hand, will be able to enjoy the labneh falafel soup cooked with curd cheese sauce, prepared by the Arab East.
Visitors who wish to enjoy the soup along with a special drink will have suggestions for pairings prepared by beer sommeliers André Luis Garcia and Fabio Saramago Gonçalves and by wine sommelier Fabio Carnielli for each of the options that make up the festival’s menu.
“The Winter Festival is a way to honor not only the establishments that are part of the Business Network, but above all to value the Center and the history of Curitiba. This is the 11th consecutive year that we have joined forces to provide residents and tourists with the opportunity to enjoy the city’s chill in the best possible way: in the charming neighborhoods of Centro and São Francisco”, says Jorge Tonatto, president of Rede Empresarial, the organization organizing the event.
Gastronomy in free classes
In addition to savoring the soups and appreciating the cultural heritage of Curitiba, the program for the 11th Winter Festival of the Historic Center also provides free knowledge to food lovers, through workshops.
In partnership with Senac PR, the Oriente Arabic restaurant offers a winter drinks course on Saturdays (July 8th and 15th, at 3 pm). Those who pass by Café Belvedere, also during the two Saturdays of the festival (at 4 pm), will be able to follow a workshop on coffees from Paraná, while at Bar do Alemão (at 12 pm), a workshop on how to use food will teach tricks and tips to avoid waste in the kitchen.
cultural marathon
On the first weekend of FICH, several musical attractions will be present in the bars and restaurants of the Historic Center as part of the program of the 40th edition of the Music Workshop of Curitiba, which will continue until Sunday (09). During the two weeks of the event, it will also be possible to participate in free cultural programs, such as the Curitiba Free Walking project, in which guided tours of the Historic Center are carried out, highlighting the city’s history and curiosities about the region.
The traditional samba circles at Bar Brasileirinho and Belly Dance at the Oriente Arab restaurant are also part of the festival’s program, in addition to a folklore performance at Bar do Alemão with the Original Einigkeit Tanzgruppe group, which pays homage to Germanic culture.
Ensuring a good laugh, the circus-theatre-music group Cia dos Palhaços presents free sessions of the greatest hits of its repertoire, the show “Gran Circo Stopim”, at Espaço Fantástico das Artes (on the 8th and 9th, at 11 am and on the 15th and 16, at 20:00 and 20:30).
