Having sex can help you avoid contracting COVID-19, study shows

The researchers concluded that having sex more often increases the ability of the immune system
A study done by the University of Baghdad in Iraq showed that having sex regularly can boost immunity and protect against Covid-19. The research was published in the scientific journal Fertility and Sterility.
The survey assessed 16,000 participants from 33 countries and divided them into two groups. The first had sex at least three times a month. The second did it less frequently. It was observed that 76.6% of the participants were not infected with Covid-19, while in the second group 40.4% of the people were infected.
Thus, the researchers concluded that having sex more frequently increases the immune system’s ability to deal with pathogens – organisms capable of causing disease – and this would explain the lower incidence of the disease in those who had sexual intercourse frequently.
However, as it is an observational study, the research did not identify the exact cause of the relationship between Covid-19 infection and the sexual behavior of volunteers. Therefore, the researchers defend the analysis of the results.
