Minister Fernando Haddad (Finance) said this Tuesday (28) that he will have a conclusive meeting on the new fiscal rule this Wednesday (29) and that the proposal prepared by the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government will be released later this week. .

According to the head of the Treasury, the issue would be discussed this Tuesday, but the discussion was postponed because Minister Rui Costa (Casa Civil) is away with the flu.

“Like Minister Rui [Costa]due to a slight health problem, remained in Bahia, we leave it for tomorrow [quarta] the meeting on the fiscal framework to verify the possibility of him being able to participate”, he said.

“It’s a conclusive meeting,” he added. “I don’t know the time of the meeting, depending on whether you schedule it in the morning or in the afternoon, we can discuss [a divulgação]. AND [uma reunião] conclusive on the framework, so this week we will disclose [a proposta].”

The cancellation of Lula’s trip to China, previously scheduled to start on Sunday (26), opened up space on the agenda for the government to present the proposal still in March, as Haddad wanted. The president went so far as to say that the announcement of the fiscal rule would be scheduled for April due to his commitment abroad.

Haddad said last Friday (24th) that the proposal is closed by the technical area and that the information demanded by Lula would be provided to the president in the next few days. “Now let’s go back to the president with the answers to the questions he asked, and just set the date [do anúncio]”, he said.

This Tuesday, the minister reinforced the objective that the PLDO (Budget Guidelines Bill) be forwarded to the National Congress already based on the new fiscal rule.

“The law itself, it has a deadline to be submitted, which is April 15, because it has to be compatible with the LDO. But that doesn’t stop us from saying what the new rule will be, the new framework tax,” he said.

The LDO project must be sent from the Executive to Congress by April 15 of each year, and be returned for sanction by July 17 of the same year.
