Brasilia DF) – The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, announced this Monday (5), the “Desenrola Brasil”, a program for renegotiating Brazilian debts. According to him, people with up to two minimum wages with debts of up to R$ 5 thousand will have access to the program.

The government hopes that 30 million people will benefit. The program will be valid for debts contracted until December 31, 2022.

The program will be instituted through a provisional measure signed by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) this Monday. Desenrola, however, should only start to be valid only in July, when creditors will be able to start registering on a platform. After this stage, debtors will be able to negotiate the debts.

According to Haddad, the negotiations made by the debtors will be guaranteed by the Operations Guarantee Fund (FGO), which will guarantee the payment of the debt to creditors, even if there is no payment of the negotiated installments.

Debts of up to BRL 100

According to Haddad, creditors who choose to participate in the program will have to “immediately” forgive debts of up to R$100. The government estimates that 1.5 million Brazilians have debts of that amount.

“Any creditor who wants to participate in the program, he will have to pay the debt that pays the debt of those who have R$ 100. The idea is that he immediately removes the name of the SPC, SERASA to qualify to participate in the program. That is our goal, ”he said.

A promise from Lula’s campaign, the launch of Desenrola was postponed on at least two occasions. The obstacle was building a platform to mediate the relationship between banks and debtors, without violating the General Data Protection Law (LGPD).

Desenrola seeks to provide “financial relief” to people who are in debt and have a negative credit score on Serasa. The idea of ​​the economic team is to renegotiate debts and enable the return of defaulters to the financial market.
