Projection is to end 2023 with more than 16 thousand consumer units

In one year, there was a 51% growth in the number of consumer units (UCs) contracted for consumption of natural gas (NG). The information is from the Gas Company of Amazonas (Cigás), concessionaire of the public service of distribution and commercialization of the fuel in the state.

The number of UCs contracted was 8,394 up to December 2021. In December 2022, the number jumped to a considerable 12,651 consumer units. These users are divided into the different segments served by the Company: thermoelectric, industrial, vehicular, commercial, residential, self-generation and liquefaction.

The CEO of Cigás, René Levy Aguiar, points out that this indicator proves the result of the Company’s effort to fulfill the mission of universalizing the natural gas distribution service in the state. “The work is in line with the plan of guidelines and strategies for the sustainable economic development of Amazonas”, he said.

With a projected growth of around 30% in the number of consumer units, Cigás hopes to surpass the mark of 16,000 users, achieving a broad work plan for 2023. works, aimed at expanding the gas pipeline network on streets and avenues in the north, south, east and center-west zones of the city.

Part of these works began last year and should be completed in the first half of 2023. They are: Max Teixeira, Industrial District (stage 3), Eliza Miranda (stage 1) and Dom Pedro (third stage) pockets. In June, new contracts will be started for the execution of works in the remaining months of 2023 until the first half of 2024, comprising the Torquato Tapajós (steps 2, 3 and 4), Mosaico, Eliza Miranda (step 2), Autaz Mirim, Chapada , Industrial District (stage 4), Dom Pedro (stage 4), Adrianópolis and Vieiralves.
