Scientists at Utrecht University say that intercourse should last an average of 5.4 minutes
At a time when almost no one has time for anything, what is the ideal time for a good sex session? The truth is that there is no consensus number. On the contrary, opinions are divided.
According to a group of scientists from Utrecht University, in the Netherlands, a satisfying sexual relationship should last an average of 5.4 minutes.
Researchers analyzed the sexual relationships of 500 heterosexual couples from five countries (Spain, Holland, United Kingdom, Turkey and United States). To reach this conclusion, they excluded the preliminaries. That is, this number only concerns the time between the beginning of penetration and the male ejaculation. The scientists add that the use of condoms did not change the duration of sexual intercourse.
Sex therapist Holly Richmond argues that nine to 12 minutes is how long a sexual encounter should last, on average.
