The world is in Gramado! Fifth best tourist destination in South America and second best destination in Brazil by award Travelers’ Choicecarried out by the TripAdvisor travel site, the city of Gramado, in Serra Gaúcha, has gained more fame every year for making visitors eat very well.

According to Abrasel Hortênsias (Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants in the Serra Gaúcha region), it is estimated that there are more than 300 bars and restaurants with open doors in the land of the Film Festival – which takes place in August. How to choose the right places in the face of such a diverse range of options?

To help you answer that question, the Good Gourmet went to Gramado and set up a kind of gastronomic tour of the world – with tips on restaurants with different styles and influences. In our itinerary, we are going to explore the gastronomy of Rio Grande do Sul, explore different countries in Europe and reach Asia. All this without leaving Gramado. Flame of Fire – Gaucho Barbecue

Passion for roasting meat, Tchê! Chama de Fogo is dedicated to the mission of keeping the gaucho barbecue tradition alive, but with an authentic experience full of surprises. It specializes in noble cuts that arrive at the table at the right point (to the customer’s taste) accompanied by special sauces.

Matured British Angus, shoulder steak, red Angus entrecot, prime rib, French rack of lamb, Uruguayan shoulder of lamb, Scottish DNA, sirloin steak and strip roast are some of the cuts that are part of the menu. Classic French cuisine revisited with regional ingredients in unusual combinations full of personality. That’s Catherine – one of the few restaurants in Gramado with a resident chef (stop by the kitchen and say hello to the cosmopolitan Nícolas Heckel – who spent time in the Old World drinking straight from the fountain).

Don Milo Cucina – Italy

Do you want to live a 100% Italian experience, with a European chef and everything? Don Milo Cucina is the order! Authenticity is the word at this restaurant located inside the Buona Vitta Resort Gramado, famous for its architecture that resembles Tuscan buildings.

Here, even the chef is Italian: Maurizio Chiorboli is part of the third generation of professional cooks in his family and now ventures to share typical recipes across the lands of brazilian. It is he who gives life to traditional dishes of Tuscan cuisine. If you go to Don Milo, go hungry. The portions served are generous like “de la mamma”.

Donalira – Germany

A little piece of Germany in Brazil. A parade of Germanic traditions in the form of art and typical cuisine. We ended our itinerary visiting the Donalira restaurant on a Friday, precisely when the theme night takes place and visitors can try the German buffet. Typical food, cuca, draft beer and German band!

The trajectory of the chef from Minas Gerais, with passage through two of the best restaurants in Latin America – El Cielo, in Colombia, and Remanso do Bosque, in Belém do Pará – served as an inspiration when it came to co-creating a more daring sensory gastronomic experience.

A fun restaurant with a team is part of it. Here the trick is to come with the family or a group of friends and enjoy. During the week, a German à la carte menu is available. Deconstruction, convenience, an invitation to informality. Experience modern Asian dishes – inspired by the concepts of fusion food – while tasting different authorial drinks created from concepts of current mixology. Here the request is to dare and order the most different dishes on the menu – taking a tour of Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese cuisine. Tip: experience the izakayaa Japanese term that defines a place to drink, but with more variety to eat than in a simple bar.
