Government of SP must contract studies for privatization of Sabesp in March, says secretary – 02/27/2023 – Market

The government of São Paulo hopes to complete the contracting of studies for the privatization of state-owned sanitation company Sabesp in March this year, Rafael Benini, secretary of investment partnerships, told Reuters this Monday (27).
According to Benini, the privatization model will be defined based on these initial studies.
At the beginning of the year, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas, reaffirmed his intention to privatize Sabesp, and said he considered the model made with Eletrobras to be good, which was privatized last year by the federal government through a share offering which diluted the company’s control on the stock exchange.
Sabesp shares rose 1.08% on the stock exchange on Monday afternoon, while the Ibovespa gained 0.1%.
