Government of Amazonas discusses proposals for tax reform

Objective is to propose solutions to preserve jobs and permanence of the industry in the state

The protection of jobs and competitiveness in the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM), based on the tax reform, guided solutions yesterday (09), during the meeting of the Strategic Tax Affairs Committee (Cate) in the presence of technicians from the Treasury departments (Sefaz) and Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation (Sedecti). The points presented will be presented to Governor Wilson Lima (União Brasil).

According to the holder of Sefaz, Alex Del Giglio, who chairs Cate, there is a possibility that the reform will be voted on in the first half of this year.

“We need to be attentive to any movement, whether by the National Congress or the Federal Government, so that we can maintain the competitiveness of the industry and our jobs and income”, he said.

Cate is a technical group created in 2019, by determination of Governor Wilson Lima, to support the Chief Executive and parliamentarians of the Amazonian bench on tax policies.

“We are still going to envision what is best for Amazonas, to be able to safely make proposals, and we are precisely making an effort with the whole team to move forward”, he said.

For the head of Sedecti, Pauderney Avelino, discussions within the scope of the Committee are dealing, among other matters, with two Proposed Amendments to the Constitution (PEC), PEC 45 and PEC 110.

“This subject has been debated for a long time, and we are going to use two PECs as a basis to seek our solutions and proposals for the protection of the Manaus Free Trade Zone model”, he explains.

Created by Governor Wilson Lima in 2019, Cate is a tool to analyze tax reform proposals under discussion in the country and keeps an eye on all tax matters related to the state of Amazonas.
