Government breaks record with collection of BRL 2.2 trillion in 2022

The total collection of the federal government ended the year 2022 at R$ 2.2 trillion, reaching the best collection performance of the historical series started in 1995, according to information released this Tuesday (24) by the Federal Revenue Service. The value represents a real gain – discounting inflation – of 8.18% compared to 2021, when it reached R$ 1.88 trillion. In December of last year alone, federal revenue reached BRL 210 billion, up 2.47% compared to the same period in 2021.

Regarding Managed Revenue, in the accumulated period from January to December 2022, collection reached R$ 2.09 trillion, registering a real increase (IPCA) of 6.64%. The amount collected in December 2022 was BRL 204 billion, representing a real increase of 2.04%.

In the accumulated result for the year, Corporate Income Tax (IRPJ) and Social Contribution on Net Income (CSLL) totaled R$ 489.6 billion, with real growth of 17.73%. This performance is explained by the 82.09%% increase in collection related to the IRPJ and CSLL adjustment declaration, due to events that occurred throughout 2021, and the 16.9% increase in the monthly estimate collection.

“Growth stands out in all forms of profit calculation. In addition, there were atypical payments of around BRL 42 billion, especially by companies linked to the exploration of commodities, in the period from January to December of last year, and BRL 40 billion, in the same period of 2021”, informed the Revenue Service.
