The national president of the PT, Gleisi Hoffmann, defended this Friday (24) the maintenance of fuel exemptions. The measure ends on March 1. On social media, the federal deputy said that re-taxing fuel now is “failure to fulfill campaign commitments”.

“We are not against taxing fuel, but doing so now is penalizing the consumer, generating more inflation and failing to fulfill a campaign commitment,” said Gleisi at the twitter. She stated that before resuming the taxes it is necessary to define a new pricing policy for Petrobras.

“Before talking about resuming fuel taxes, it is necessary to define a new price policy for Petrobras. This will be possible from April, when the Board of Directors is renewed, with people committed to rebuilding the company and its role for the country”, he highlighted.

The provisional measure that extended the exemption of federal taxes on fuel was edited on January 1st and is valid until February 28th.
