Gasoline: price drops by R$0.05 at gas stations, says ANP – 06/23/2023 – Market

The average price of regular gasoline at Brazilian service stations fell 0.9% this week, to R$5.35, according to a survey released this Friday (23) by the ANP (National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels).
The variation is equivalent to a drop of R$ 0.05 per liter compared to last week’s survey. At the time, the average price was R$ 5.40.
The new result shows the second consecutive drop in pumps, after a sharp rise in fuel prices as a result of the change in the ICMS collection model in early June.
The new reduction comes after Petrobras cut the selling price of gasoline at refineries by R$ 0.13 per liter last week. The low came into effect on June 16 for distributors.
In addition to impacting the consumer’s pocket, the cut in refineries also relieves the federal government, which intends to fully resume the collection of federal taxes on gasoline in July.
These taxes had been zeroed by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) close to the 2022 elections and were partially reintroduced by the Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) government in March of this year.
