Manaus (AM) – This Wednesday, June 7th, at 2 pm, the opening of the exhibition “Gotas de Saberes, Rios de Changes” will take place, with free admission at the Espaço da Cidadania Ambiental (ECAM), at Manauara Shopping. The environmental show is part of the special program in celebration of the month of the environment, carried out by the Sustainable Amazon Foundation (FAS) and which will also promote, on site, a series of environmental workshops for teachers and students with the support of the City of Manaus, through by the Municipal Department of Education (Semed), and by Manauara Shopping.

The aim of the exhibition is to raise awareness of the pollution of rivers, mainly by plastic waste. The exhibition “Gotas de Saberes, Rios de Changes”, which will be open until the 30th of June, features photographs of the environmental education project Escola D’Água Brasil (Swarovski Waterschool), taken by the São Paulo photographer Caio Palazzo, who toured several cities from the interior of the Amazon producing this material.

The Escola D’Água project is implemented by FAS and operates in riverside and indigenous communities, teaching a methodology on the conservation of water resources, mainly with public school teachers. Based on these initiatives, teachers teach topics related to water care and students involve their families and neighbors for a healthier management of the resource.

Also at the ECAM at Manauara Shopping, various activities will be held for students and teachers from the municipal public school system, including the children’s workshops “Learning Playing with the Elements of Nature”, on the 7th and 20th of June. In addition, there will be a workshop for teachers on June 21 on health.

Another action will be the holding of the “Dream Workshop” for Youth and Adult Education (EJA) students, on June 22nd, and a conversation circle about the Amazon, on June 23rd.

“We have prepared a wide, free and very special program to celebrate the month of the environment, mainly involving the general population with educational actions to encourage conservation of the environment and water resources”, commented Victor Salviati, superintendent of Innovation and Institutional Development from FAS.

“FAS does” and vegetable garden

Manauara Shopping will also receive, on the top floor, from June 20th to July 9th, the photographic exhibition “A FAS faz”, which highlights the main results of the institution in its 15 years of work in favor of environmental conservation.

The main results of FAS, which will gain prominence at the exhibition, include the implementation of nine Centers for Innovation and Environmental Education for Sustainable Development (Nieds); the 202% increase in the family income of participants in the Bolsa Floresta Program, in Conservation Units (UCs); the installation of 66 telehealth points in 22 municipalities; more than 200,000 families benefited; among others.

The institution will also present its main actions that indicated it as the best NGO in Brazil, in 2021, and the best in Amazonas, last year.

In the garden at Manauara Shopping, from June 9th to 14th, there will be a workshop aimed at encouraging the five sensory senses of the little ones, in order to get to know the species of vegetables. The workshop aims to show how the use of sensory gardens or spaces such as organic gardens can serve as a teaching and learning resource to favor the understanding of nature as an essential element for a better quality of life, health and well-being.
