This is the second time that Fred assumes the presidency of the red and white bumbá
The artist Fred Góes defeated other competitors and became the new president of the Boi-Bumbá Garantido Folkloric Association in an election that took place on Sunday (24).
With 1,648 votes, Fred gained the trust of bumbá’s partners to manage the people’s bull. In second place, Flávio Farias obtained 1,138 votes. Ronaldo Macêdo came third with 844 votes.
In fourth Adelson Albuquerque had 476 votes and lastly Ida Silva with 151 votes. In addition, 48 invalid votes and 20 blank votes were recorded.
This will be the second time that the artist takes on the red and white bumbá. The first time was in 1992.
As the new president, Fred told the press that he will soon announce the new theme and the call for songs for 2024.
“The first thing we are going to do is open the call for songs so that new composers have a chance. We will not close off the opportunity for new composers to emerge and they will have the same space as traditional composers”, emphasized Góes.
