The Agricultural Parliamentary Front estimates that the overthrow of the time frame could cause the loss of 1.5 million jobs and US$ 42.73 billion in losses in “non-generated agricultural exports”. The President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Minister Rosa Weber, scheduled the resumption of the judgment on the subject for June 7th.

At the trial, ministers discuss the so-called time frame. According to the thesis, defended by landowners, the indigenous people would only have the right to the lands that were in their possession on October 5, 1988, the date of enactment of the Federal Constitution, or that were in legal dispute at that time, informed Agência Brasil.

The agribusiness caucus also assesses that the demarcation of new indigenous lands, if the Court overturns the time frame, could cause the loss of “BRL 364.59 billion in agricultural products that will not be produced in the country”, in addition to “a significant increase in of food prices.
