Food Culture Map Exhibition opens on September 6

The Food Culture Map exhibition opens for public visitation from the 6th of September at Shopping Mueller. The installations created by artist Gustavo Krelling play with mannequins and representations that refer to Brazilian food culture and are the final stage of the “Map of Food Culture” project. The exhibition runs until October 6th and there will be guided tours for those who want to hear more about the history and construction of the facilities. The project, carried out by Montenegro Produções with resources from the Cultural Incentive Law, began in April with an expedition that visited cities in Paraná and Santa Catarina to discover more about regional food culture, focusing on 12 products that have the Indication seal Geographic (IGs). There will be six installations that represent Brazilian food culture and tell parts of the stories of the products that were researched in the project. The installations will be set in a space created by the office Givago Ferentz Arquitetos, which works with a focus on projects for restaurants and bars.

As Givago explains, all the pieces will be set in settings that will include not only Krelling’s work, but also the material that was captured during the expedition. Thus, videos and photos that were produced during the project can also be seen by the public.

“The Food Culture Map project values ​​regional gastronomy and transforms the result of this work into a visual arts exhibition, rich in details and curiosities about eating habits. It is an honor for Shopping Mueller to host this exhibition and support this project. Book will be released on the same day as the opening of the Food Culture Map Exhibition

In addition to the opening of the Food Culture Map exhibition, the project book will also be launched on September 6th. In the publication, the discoveries of the expedition, the research for the exhibition and recipes that use the products that served as a compass for the Mapa da Cultura Alimentar team.

“The project is a celebration of Brazilian food culture. We started with 12 products with the geographic identification stamp of Paraná and Santa Catarina and we carried out all the research at the time of shipment. This material is part of the content of a book that will be released on the same day as the opening of the exhibition. And the exhibition is the great representation of the richness of our food culture and in the artistic expression we allowed these symbols, so Brazilian, to come to the fore”, explains Carolina Montenegro, from Montenegro Produções, who created the project.
