The away-from-home food segment closed the first month of 2023 with growth of 19.6%, according to the Foodservice Performance Index (IDF), by the Foodservice Brasil Institute (IFB). The survey was carried out among entrepreneurs associated with the agency and the result is compared to the same period in 2022.
Regarding the number of transactions, the increase was 9.4% and, in the average ticket, there was growth of 35.9%, reaching 8.5% in the period of 12 months. The number of stores remained stable, with a positive variation of 0.2%, reaching a total of 6,673 units in the country. The participation of the delivery modality reached 18.9% of sales in the first month of 2023.
In the analysis of the variation in billing of IFB members in the sales channels, the survey points out that 16% come from street stores and 25.1% come from units located in shopping centers.
According to IFB’s Head of Marketing, Lucas Roberto, the study provides an important overview of the sector, as it brings insights into the main representatives of the segment. For him, the month of January proves consolidation within one of the sectors most affected by the closure of establishments during the pandemic.
“Despite the economic crisis predicted for this year, pre-pandemic levels should be reached in the coming months. The most important thing is that entrepreneurs remain attentive to market research and connected to associations to draw up assertive strategies”, explains Lucas.
The IFB conducts monthly surveys on foodservice movements and seeks solutions for issues that impact the market. The IDF is one of the most important indicators in the area.
