A Sheet and Ibre-FGV (Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation) are holding this Wednesday (17), starting at 10 am, an online seminar to address the impacts of the quality of Brazilian education on economic growth.
In “The role of education in development”, specialists will discuss the relationship that existed throughout the 20th century between public investment in education and development policy, as well as the consequences of low investment in the area on growth and the job market in the nowadays.
It will also address how the country’s macroeconomic disarrangements have hindered the entry into the productive sector of millions of young people who have increased, over the last few years, their educational level —but without achieving good positions in the market.
Participating in the event are economists Fernando Veloso, coordinator of the Regis Bonelli Productivity Observatory, from Ibre-FGV, Samuel Pessôa, associate researcher at FGV-Ibre, and Thomas Kang, professor of Economics at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. The moderation will be done by the special reporter of Sheet Fernando Canzian.
