Fiscal framework: Senate will evaluate changing the text of the Chamber – 05/22/2023 – Market

The president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), said this Monday (22) that there is still no tendency to maintain the proposal for the new fiscal framework in the House. The text is under urgent procedure in the Chamber of Deputies.

“The House, doing its work, then it is the role of the Senate to look into the work of the House. If there is a tendency to keep [o texto] or not, this is an assessment that we are going to make after the Chamber decides what are all the requirements of this new fiscal framework”, said Pacheco after participating in a seminar at Sheet on the independence of the Central Bank.

The senator stated, however, that he trusts the work of the Chamber and praised the efforts of the proposal’s rapporteur, deputy Claudio Cajado (PP-BA).

“I heard that you dedicated a lot to this issue and you are also very well intentioned to be able to establish a sustainable fiscal regime in Brazil, in line with Minister [da Fazenda]Fernando Haddad and his economic team.”

Pacheco guaranteed that, as soon as the matter reaches the Senate, the parliamentarians will work to approve, as “as quickly as possible”, the new fiscal framework law later this semester. “I have no doubt that it will be approved in the Chamber, it will be approved in the Senate, and soon we will have a new fiscal regime in Brazil”.
