Request for the benefit can be made through the agency’s website or the “Meu INSS” application.
The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) granted a death pension automatically for the first time. The claim was released to an insured person in Rio de Janeiro on Friday (the 16th). The process brings more speed to the analysis of the benefit, which accounts for the third largest queue of requests by the agency.
The urban death pension is the benefit aimed at the dependents of the institute’s policy holders who live in urban areas. The request is made through the “Meu INSS” website or application.
In the automation of the analysis, the INSS uses the data that are already in the Social Security systems and checks with the information provided by the citizen at the time of the request. Data contained in the information base of other bodies are also used in the investigation. Thus, the application is completed faster.
The process brings more speed to the analysis of the benefit, which accounts for the third largest queue of requirements of the body, second only to those for the Benefit of Continuous Provision (BPC/Loas) and retirement by age. In April alone, of the 1.2 million accumulated requests (not counting those referring to benefits that depend on expertise, such as sick pay), 136 thousand were requests for death pension, which corresponds to 10.8% of the total .
“With the novelty, the analysis of the application becomes optimized, more assertive and allows automatic decision by the INSS systems”, defended the body, in a note.
