First Lula 3 auction will serve as a thermometer – 05/18/2023 – Panel SA

After interrupting the privatization of state-owned companies, interfering in Eletrobras and attacking the BC’s monetary policy, the Lula government is testing, with concern, the appetite of private investors for the auction of the airport of São Gonçalo do Amarante (RN), which takes place this Friday (19), at B3, in São Paulo.
Potiguar airport was the first to be granted to the private sector in 2011. However, financial difficulties led Inframérica, which currently manages Brasília airport, to return the concession – a process that started in 2020.
According to preliminary calculations, the group still has R$ 500 million in unamortized investments, which is why the future winner of the auction for the so-called rebidding of São Gonçalo do Amarante will have to pay for this compensation.
In addition to evaluating the interest of the private sector, the auction will serve as a reference for ten other ongoing re-bidding processes in the transport sector.
