The collection of federal taxes by the government totaled R$ 962.4 billion in the year up to the month of May and broke a record in the period, according to data released this Thursday (22) by the Federal Revenue Service. The amount was boosted by the values of April (R$ 203.8 billion) and of the month of May itself (R$ 176.8 billion).
According to the Revenue, the accumulated for the year represents 1.02% more compared to the same period of 2022 in real terms, considering inflation, when the collection amounted to R$ 908.5 billion.
The collection reports are normally released monthly, but the opening overview was published with delay due to a standard operation of the Tax Authorities in that month.
Among the results for the month of May are the real growth of 7.20% in the collection of the Social Security Contribution, due to the growth of the wage bill; the growth in IRRF collection on capital investments due to the performance of bonds and fixed income funds; and the payment of approximately R$ 1 billion in Export Tax due to the taxation of crude oil.
