Federal collection has 1st real drop in more than two years – 04/25/2023 – Market

The collection in Brazil totaled R$ 171.056 billion in March, informed the Federal Revenue this Tuesday (25), representing a decrease of 0.42% in relation to the same month of the previous year in data adjusted for inflation.
According to the price-adjusted historical series from March of this year, it was the first real monthly drop in revenue since January 2021.
Last month’s result was weighted by a real decrease of 5.87% in revenue from IRPJ (Corporate Income Tax) and CSLL (Social Contribution on Net Income), which totaled R$ 33.648 billion.
In addition, the total collected jointly via PIS/Pasep and Cofins decreased by 5.76% in inflation-adjusted terms, to R$ 32.645 billion.
This offset a real increase of 6.03% in social security collection, which was R$ 47.067 billion, as well as the real jump of 37.60% in the category “other revenues managed by the Federal Revenue Service”, totaling R$ 3.673 billion.
On the other hand, in the first three months of 2023, the collection reached the value of R$ 581.795 billion, with an increase adjusted by the IPCA of 0.72%. According to Revenue, it was the best performance for the quarter since 2000.
