On the 16th, the Federation held a meeting with representatives of ports, shipowners, operators and large transport companies, to request measures, considered urgent and necessary by peers, in order to minimize the impacts of the drought that has caused an increase in freight prices. , logistical operations and imminent shortages of goods, mainly for the interior of the State.
Among the points defined are: the dredging of the mouth of the Madeira River, a work that will be carried out by Dnit on an urgent basis; reconstruction of BR-319, built more than 50 years ago and which in the last 20 years was severely hampered by the lack of maintenance, conservation and paving works, disconnecting our state, already so hampered by logistical distance, from other Brazilian states; dredging of the Negro and Solimões Rivers in defined and specific stretches that have a shallow draft that prevents access to the ports of Manaus; definition, given the difficulties identified today, of the means, unloading locations and routes that will serve companies in Manaus at this serious moment; extension of the ICMS payment period to 90 days. Collection of ICMS, on an exceptional basis, only for goods that are actually unloaded in Manaus.
Also according to the note, businesspeople applaud the actions developed by the State Government aimed at serving, on an urgent basis, the populations of the 59 municipalities, which were heavily affected.
