The number of residents of favelas who are going to travel at the beginning of the year until the end of Carnival should increase, according to a survey by Nós Pesquisas (Novo Outdoor Social Intelligence).
With around 40% of respondents saying they decided to travel this summer, the increase is 17 percentage points compared to the previous survey.
Own car will be used by 33% and plane, 24%. Among the most common destinations are the coastal regions, Rio de Janeiro, Ceará, Bahia and Minas Gerais.
Half of respondents have never traveled by plane and, among those who have, 31% prefer to buy tickets at travel agencies. In the public that goes by bus, 42% buy tickets directly at the bus station. The share of those who buy online is smaller.
The survey also asked which items are essential on slabs during the summer. Barbecue, chairs and tables, fridge, shower and plastic pool are among the most mentioned.
441 residents of 12 of the largest communities in the country were interviewed, such as Heliópolis (SP) and Rocinha (RJ).
