Faustão: Transplant queue was not cut, says Tarcísio – 08/28/2023 – Health

The governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), stated that the heart transplant in presenter Fausto Silva “ran within the rules of the game”.

Faustão underwent heart transplant surgery this weekend at Albert Einstein Hospital, in the south of the capital.

The selection generated for this heart brought 12 patients who met the requirements. Among the potential receivers, four had priority. Faustão occupied the second position in this selection.

The transplant team of the patient who occupied the first position decided to refuse the organ and, therefore, proceeded to the second patient, who was Faustão. Refusals may occur due to potential incompatibilities between recipient and donor.

“Everything went according to the rules of the game, within the most absolute normality”, said Tarcísio, during an event held on Monday night (28) to present a project for electronic monitoring of passengers while they wait for buses at some points in the city of São Paulo.

Tarcísio stated that the presenter was not favored and that the queue was respected.

According to him, the participation of the state government was in the transport of the organ.

“It’s good to know that the transplant system is working and that a person who was in need received this organ, that he is doing well, that he will have a new perspective and will gain that breath of hope”, he said.

Tarcísio praised the presenter. “He IS a great communicator, a person who brings joy.”

Faustão has been admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) since the 5th of August to treat heart failure. The worsening of the condition led him to enter the queue for a heart transplant on the 20th.
