Family that owns Hapvida invests BRL 1.6 billion in the company – 03/27/2023 – Panel SA

The Pinheiro family, controller of the health plan operator Hapvida, decided to invest R$ 1.6 billion in the company to try to reinforce the company’s liquidity and overcome the turmoil it has been going through in recent months.

The company announced two actions this Monday (27). In the first operation, called sale & lease back in the market, in which properties are sold and then rented back, the family will buy ten hospitals for R$ 1.25 billion. It will be a capitalization for the company and the properties will be rented. Hapvida says it has received six proposals from different funds, and the family was the one who best evaluated the properties, in addition to accepting the lowest rent.

The group has 87 hospitals, of which 22 already belong to the family, which will now have 32.

The second action is a follow-on, an offering of shares, in which 385 million shares will be issued, around BRL 1 billion, in which the Pinheiro family also commits to contributing BRL 360 million.

The offer isn’t rolling out yet, but should happen in the coming weeks. The banks were hired to launch the offer and the parameters are already given, in terms of number of shares and the family’s commitment to participate in the offer.

“This is a cash reinforcement to give the company greater comfort to spend the next quarters in which we see the challenging macroeconomic scenario in the country and in the world”, says Maurício Teixeira, financial director of Hapvida.
