Erotic AI: fake profile on Reddit earned BRL 500 with photos – 04/14/2023 – Tech

The erotic publications of the fake profile “Cl4ud14” gained a face, when the two programming students behind the account decided to create, 16 days ago, a model with the artificial intelligence platform that generates images Stable Diffusion. Her fair skin, blue eyes, long black hair and cleavage attracted an audience on Reddit, who paid to receive more images of her.

The AI-created beauty of the alleged 19-year-old character garnered more viewership than previous publications by “Cl4udi14”, but also attracted users who noted evidence that the portrait had been machine-generated.

The story was first published by Rolling Stone magazine, which came into contact with the fake profile. The administrators were a couple of college students who declined to be identified.

The two young people told the cultural magazine that they received about US$ 100 (R$ 494.50) selling erotic images of “Cl4ud14” to Reddit users.

The owner of the Reddit profile “legalbeagle1966” commented on an image of the model created by AI: “very sexy and perfect”. Sought by the Washington Post, the user said he felt a little cheated when he discovered the fraud.

On March 31, one of Reddit’s volunteer moderators pinned a comment to “Cl4ud14’s” post. “This photo may or may not have been generated by artificial intelligence. In any case, it does not violate our rules. Please do not report the post.”

The images published on the profile “Cl4ud14” show inconsistencies, such as a bra with three adjustment buckles on each strap and moles that appear in one photo, but not in another. Users also commented that there were distortions in the landscapes.

The social network prohibits the publication of pornographic images. The creators of “Cl4ud14” circumvented moderation by only posting pictures of the half-naked fictional model. Previous publications show the alleged woman dressed in lingerie, but without showing her face.

The person who wants to access the profile of “Cl4ud14”, however, needs to confirm for the social network to be over 18 years old. Erotic texts and images in underwear published on the account receive a seal of indication for adults.

To create an account on Reddit, the user only has to enter email, username and password. This facilitates the creation of fake profiles on the social network and, consequently, anonymous use.

There have been reports of pornographic videos created with artificial intelligence, the deep fake, since 2018. Singer Anitta, for example, was linked to a fake erotic video in July last year. Platforms such as Stable Diffusion facilitate the creation of fictional erotic images, as they generate content from text instructions.
